Roma are being strongly linked with three strikers, namely Andriy Shevchenko, Julio Cruz and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Giallorossi are on the lookout for a centre-forward, who can take the weight off Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic.
Of the three, Shevchenko has sent the most explicit signals to Roma.
Last week, the Ukraine international said he would like to join the Giallorossi.
Luciano Spalletti is a big admirer and reportedly met him last year to register his interest.
Another factor that could persuade Shevchenko to move to Roma is the arrival of Silvano Cotti, a world-renowned physiotherapist.
Shevchenko and Cotti have worked together in the past and enjoy a great relationship.
Keeping the 32-year-old healthy is crucial if Roma are to get the best out of him.
Shevchenko would have to take a pay cut to join the Giallorossi.
Inter hitman Julio Cruz is also in Roma's sights.
The 34-year-old Argentine was set to move to Panathinaikos, but the Greek outfit signed Djibril Cisse instead.
Cruz will now look for another club in Italy. He is highly respected by Roma.
The Giallorossi wanted him to form part of deals done for Cristian Chivu and Amantino Mancini.
He is also being linked with Napoli, Palermo and Parma.
The dream for Roma is Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, the 25-year-old Real Madrid centre-forward.
Huntelaar is up for sale as Los Merengues look to bring in some cash following the signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, it's possible Roma could contract Huntelaar on loan.
He only joined Real in January for a fee of £20m.
Roma have a great relationship with the Spanish giants, having done deals for Cicinho and Julio Baptista.
