Following their shock 2-0 win over Spain in the Confederations Cup semi-final a number of the US players have expressed a desire to play in Italy.
Alexi Lalas was the last American to play in Serie A with his spell at Padova but the list could now become longer.
I would love to play in Italy, revealed centre-back Oguchi Onyewu. The 27-year-old played in Belgium for Standard Liege last season and is now free to find himself a new club. Torino and Bari could be interested.
Then there is Fulhams Clint Dempsey. I am currently good in the Premier League and am tied to Fulham for two seasons but I would like to play in Serie A at some point because when I was a boy I was always following Italian football.
Italy is a great country and if I had a chance I would seriously think about moving and play there, admitted Landon Donovan, who is perhaps the most talented player in the US national team.
Jozy Altidore (pictured) is the last in the list. The powerful centre forward is on the books of Villarreal where he could partner Azzurri striker Giuseppe Rossi.
Of course I would like to play in Italy. Great clubs and great players, confessed the striker who scored the opener last night.
Rossi is a fantastic player. I know he wants to go back home and if he does I will be happy for him. He played a great Confederations Cup but was unlucky in the end, concluded Altidore.
