Ferrari reaches crossroads
Wednesday 25 June, 2008

Defender Matteo Ferrari has severed ties with Roma and his future could be at either Fiorentina or Milan.

The former Everton stopper made a respectable contribution to the Giallorossi’s successful campaign last term, but he isn’t satisfied playing a back-up role.

With his contract expiring this summer, Ferrari is ready to find a new challenge, but his destination is still unclear.

“It was our choice to change clubs,” agent Gianni Corci said on Teleradiostereo.

“I want to silence the voices that are suggesting that Roma wanted rid of the player.

“The Giallorossi made us a very good four-year offer, but there was a discussion and we decided to go down a different path. Matteo will leave the club on excellent terms.

“Talks with Fiorentina and Milan are underway and by the end of this week or the start of next week I expect news.

“At the moment I would say that Ferrari won’t be going abroad, even if there is a contract waiting to be signed.

“As well as not wanting to slip out of Azzurri contention, Matteo doesn’t have a great desire to leave Italy.”
