Udinese President Giampaolo Pozzo has revealed how Napoli nearly signed Antonio Di Natale earlier this summer.
The Partenopei are trying to make their side more Neapolitan and have already bought Di Natale's teammate Fabio Quagliarella, who grew up in the city.
Di Natale was also born and raised in Naples, but remains tied to Udinese.
He has scored 55 goals in 157 appearances since joining the Zebrette in 2004.
It is true Napoli sought me out to buy Di Natale after Quagliarella, Pozzo told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
The fact is that it also seemed like Di Natale wanted to leave. I confirm that there was interest. We also found an economic agreement.
We met with Napoli director of sport Pierpaolo Marino. Napoli tried to sign him. But it was Di Natale who refused the destination, saying that he wanted to stay in Udine. For me the case is closed, he concluded.
