Ronaldinho’s “dream of joining Milan” is still not over, according to Selecao teammate Kaka.
Barcelona confirmed this week that Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o and Deco are not in their plans for next season and can leave the club.
Despite this statement from new Coach Pep Guardiola, the negotiations between the two clubs were not revived because of Barca’s £20m price-tag.
“I am pleased Ronaldinho has been called up for the Olympics, as he is going through a very difficult time,” explained Kaka.
“Barcelona have frozen him out. It seems tough right now to see him moving to Milan, as there was talk of it for so long and it was all ready to be completed when someone put the brakes on.
“Ronaldinho has not changed his mind and still dreams of joining Milan. And I can confirm the club is still thinking of him.”
In recent weeks the Rossoneri changed their objective to Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor and are facing a brawl with Barcelona over his £25m signing.
It is still possible that Milan could use that issue as leverage to force Barca into lowering Ronaldinho’s price-tag so they will step out of the way and give them free access to Adebayor.
Kaka wanted to be at the Beijing Olympics along with Ronaldinho, but was not given the go-ahead.
“My situation is different to Ronaldinho’s, as he is no longer really a Barcelona player, while I belong to Milan and they have the right to decide.
“I asked the club if I could go to the Games, but it doesn’t depend on me. I did what I could and now it is up to the Brazilian Federation to make another request.”
Having already released Alexandre Pato for the Olympics, Milan were reluctant to send Kaka out as well, especially as he had left knee surgery in May.
“As for my knee, it is absolutely fine. I am undergoing physiotherapy, my body is reacting well and I’ll be ready in about two weeks.”
