Swedish international Olof Mellberg is looking forward to starting life with the Juventus, while the Bianconeri line up another defender.
Mellberg’s Euro 2008 adventure ended in tears with defeat against Russia on Wednesday evening.
But the experienced defender has a lot to look forward to after joining Juve as a free agent when his contract at Aston Villa expired.
“I can’t wait to get started,” he declared on Sky Sport Italia.
“I will be there in three weeks to start pre-season. I spoke to Claudio Ranieri before the end of last season and I am really looking forward to meeting up with him.
“I am happy to be able to play alongside Alessandro Del Piero and my other new teammates at Juve – this is a squad at the highest level.”
Meanwhile, the Old Lady are discussing a move for Livorno’s Croatian defender Dario Knezevic.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Knezevic would play the role that Lazio’s Guglielmo Stendardo did last term and would join on loan with the possibility of a permanent deal in the summer of 2009.
