Roma are still checking the credentials of a takeover bid launched by a consortium headed by football agent Vinicio Fioranelli.
Italpetroli, the company with a majority stake in Roma run by the Sensi family, is in financial difficulty and needs to sell the club.
Verifications on the part of Italpetroli and its financial adviser Mediobanca are still in course to ascertain the nature of the interest represented by Mr Fioranelli in buying a majority stake in Roma, a statement read.
The process began last week amid reports of another potential buyer being cleared to present his project to the club's other major shareholders.
Francesco Angelini, a pharmaceutical millionaire, was apparently given the chance to share his ideas for the club and its future with representatives from Mediobanca.
