Fiorentina’s striking star Adrian Mutu has been offered a contract renewal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The Romanian international’s future had been called into question before Euro 2008 when there were rumours of huge offers from Schalke and Barcelona.
However, just days after the crushing disappointment of European Championship elimination, Mutu seems set to extend his stay in Tuscany.
According to Fiorentina’s official website, Mutu will put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him with the Gigliati until 2012.
The former Parma man is due for a notable pay rise, but reports suggest that his new salary is not as great as the £4m per season he allegedly demanded.
Mutu’s finances aren’t in the best of order after he was ordered to pay Chelsea almost £8m compensation for taking cocaine during his time at Stamford Bridge – a judgement he intends to appeal.
