The latest reports from South Africa suggest that Marcello Lippi will be lining Giuseppe Rossi up with Fabio Quagliarella against Egypt.
The Italy boss has kept his formation quiet but Italian journalists in Pretoria have managed to get hold of the names of who will be facing the African champions.
Fabio Cannavaro should start in defence after he missed the first Confederations Cup game against the United States due to injury.
In midfield Andrea Pirlo and Daniele De Rossi will line up alongside Gennaro Gattuso, who has beaten the competition of Angelo Palombo and Riccardo Montolivo.
In attack the breaking news is that opening day hero Rossi will be starting next to Napoli’s Quagliarella just off Vincenzo Iaquinta, who will be the lone striker.
Lippi is then set to leave both Luca Toni and Alberto Gilardino out of his 4-3-2-1 formation. The Azzurri have no option but to beat Egypt if they do not want to risk ending up behind Brazil in the table after the Seleçao‘s comfortable win against the Americans.
