Royston Drenthe is causing friction between Genoa and Fiorentina, as the two sides are once again after the same target.
The Viola were in pole position for the explosive full-back but then the Rossoblu decided to intervene and contact Real Madrid directly. The battle mirrors the Hernan Crespo tug of war which Genoa won.
Reports suggested Drenthe would have been happy to move to the Franchi since his spell at the Bernabeu is pretty much over.
Pantaleo Corvino believed the Dutchman could make a good addition to Cesare Prandellis squad but now that the Grifone is also involved the players price tag could rise significantly.
According to the latest Italian reports, Genoa directors are in Madrid to negotiate directly with Los Merengues.
The deal should see the former Feyenoord ace moving to Marassi on a year-long loan. At the end of the 12 months Genoa could then opt to sign him at a previously fixed price.
Fiorentinas honour though could take another pounding and it will remain to be seen whether President Diego Della Valle decides to take actions himself to block Genoa patron Enrico Preziosi regarding this matter.
