Secco to make Rossi enquiry
Wednesday 17 June, 2009

Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco will take advantage of his trip to Spain for Mahamadou Diarra by talking to Villarreal about Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian international has become a wanted man on the transfer market after his recent impact with the Azzurri, scoring three goals in his last two games.

Although the 22-year-old yesterday spoke of his admiration for Milan, it is understood that new Juventus boss Ciro Ferrara would like him at his disposal for 2009-10.

Secco currently finds himself in Spain where he will meet with Real Madrid over the possible transfer of Diarra.

However, as part of the trip, he is also set to hold initial talks with the Yellow Submarines in a bid to get a better understanding of what it would take to sign Rossi.

The USA-born striker has a rescission clause of around £35m in his contract, a figure which is well out of reach for the Old Lady.

Nevertheless, Secco will explore the possibility of composing a deal which would see them hand over cash and David Trezeguet in exchange for the former Parma and Man Utd player.

Trezeguet is seen as surplus to requirements in Turin and the club are hoping to sell him for around £8m this summer.

It remains to be seen though if Trezeguet would accept such a switch and exchanges of this kind are notoriously difficult.

“It would be tough,” noted Trez’s agent Antonio Caliendo. “The two clubs value both players very differently.”

The Frenchman’s salary requests – he currently earns around £3.5m a season – would also be problematic for the Liga side.

What about D’Agostino?
