Ballardini nears Lazio deal
Monday 15 June, 2009

Davide Ballardini is on his way to Rome to meet Lazio President Claudio Lotito and sign for the Biancocelesti, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The talented 45-year-old trainer was recently dismissed by Palermo, who hired former Catania Coach Walter Zenga in his place.

He is still under contract with the Rosanero for another two years, though.

However, an agreement with Lazio would sever any ties he has in Sicily.

The Biancocelesti have been looking for a new trainer since Delio Rossi left the club last week.

According to Il Corriere, Lotito has already arrived at Lazio's training ground in Formello where he is awaiting Ballardini.

He is said to have a two-year contract ready for Ballardini, who led Palermo to an eighth place finish in Serie A this season.

Once Ballardini arrives, Lotito also plans to discuss Lazio's first moves in the transfer market this summer.
