Davide Ballardini confirms he had talks with Lazio and is waiting for the all-clear to sign on the dotted line.
“I spoke with Lazio’s director of sport Ighli Tare and I hope to hear from him again soon,” the tactician told Sky Italia television.
Delio Rossi’s contract expires at the end of this month and he walked away, claiming the club no longer considered him a part of their plans.
Ballardini is one of several Coaches linked with the Biancocelesti bench, though hot favourite Walter Zenga pulled himself out of the running when signing with Palermo.
Curiously it was Ballardini who left Palermo following a row with President Maurizio Zamparini.
“We rescinded the contract, as my rapport with Zamparini was not what it had been before,” he explained.
“After his public insults against me, I told him he should decide what to do.”
Zamparini insisted he was “offended” by the idea he had belittled Ballardini in public, suggesting he had only given his view on the team’s performances.
