Eto'o meets Inter
Thursday 11 June, 2009

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o was in Milan on Monday to talk to Inter, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.

The Cameroon international has been linked with the Nerazzurri over the last week, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to be leaving.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in the 27-year-old Swede and Inter would ideally like Eto'o to form part of any potential deal for him.

Inter Coach Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of his and already tried to sign him when he managed Chelsea.

According to L'Equipe, Eto'o flew to Milan on Monday where he met Inter to seek assurances about a possible transfer.

The 28-year-old apparently wants Inter to give him the same contractual terms Ibrahimovic currently enjoys.

He has in mind a five year deal worth nearly £10m a season, which he believes fully represents his value.

Eto'o is out of contract at the end of next season and knows richer English clubs would be willing to pay him that kind of money.

Oil rich Manchester City are just one of several Premier League clubs willing to break the bank for Eto'o.

However, earlier today Barcelona President Joan Laporta rejected reports suggesting Eto'o would leave the Camp Nou.

Laporta added that he is willing to offer Eto'o a new contract, although he also admitted that he wouldn't be held to ransom.

Eto'o is one of the world's most prolific strikers, having scored an incredible 108 goals in 145 appearances for Barcelona.
