Parma pick up Leon
Wednesday 9 July, 2008

Parma begin their bid for Serie A by signing Julio Cesar Leon from Genoa, while Sampdoria capture Marco Padalino.

Honduras international Leon has impressed in the top flight in recent years with both Genoa and Reggina.

The Trequartista has been in Italy since 2001 for a variety of clubs and now makes the move to the Stadio Tardini.

Leon is a major reinforcement for a side that is eager to get back into Serie A after their recent relegation.

The 28-year-old has also worn the jerseys of Fiorentina, Catanzaro, Sambenedettese, Avellino and Teramo.

Known for his fierce shot from distance and free kick prowess, Leon scored four goals in 29 games for Genoa last season.

In other transfer news, Sampdoria have signed Piacenza winger Padalino on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old Swiss midfielder had been at the Stadio Garilli for three seasons, before then spending time at Catania.

It will be his first Serie A experience.
