Chelsea: Frank will see out deal
Wednesday 9 July, 2008

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has warned Inter that Frank Lampard will see out his current contract, even if he doesn’t agree a new one.

The Nerazzurri made an offer of around £6m, which was refused, and reports suggest that they have increased their bid to close to £8m.

Lampard is said to be willing to relocate to Serie A as he is unhappy with Chelsea’s current contract offer.

But the England midfielder’s current deal doesn’t expire until next summer and his current employers insist that he will at least stay until then.

“We’d like to hope that we can reach an agreement but of we can’t we have always worked on the basis that he sees out the terms of his contract,” Kenyon said.

“The situation is ongoing. We have always maintained that we want Frank to stay and an offer was made to that effect.

“That offer is still on the table and Frank has another year to run on the current deal.”

However, despite new tactician Luiz Felipe Scolari’s assurances that the player will definitely stay, agent Steve Kutner has revealed that Lampard’s future is “completely unresolved.”

It remains to be seen whether Inter will further increase their offer to try and persuade Chelsea to release their grip on their main transfer target.
