Milan to buy Bergessio?
Monday 7 July, 2008

Reports in Argentina state that Milan’s striker search will lead to promising San Lorenzo hitman Gonzalo Bergessio.

The Rossoneri’s bid to add a well-known goal-getter to their arsenal has been so far unsuccessful as Vice-President Adriano Galliani [pictured] has been priced out of the market for stars such as Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto’o.

And now reports in Argentina suggest that the world champions could look to a rising star instead such as 23-year-old Bergessio.

According to Olè, Milan are yet to make any official approach but are considering stepping in with a bid of around £12m.

San Lorenzo are expecting a sizeable fee for Bergessio, but the Argentine outfit seem resigned to losing their star man.

“There is no news to give you, except that Gonzalo’s agent is currently in Europe,” President Rafael Savino admitted.

Bergessio has experienced European football before but his spell at Benfica in 2007 didn’t go according to plan, prompting his return to Argentina.
