Stan shakes off Juve abuse
Sunday 6 July, 2008

Dejan Stankovic’s agent denies the Juventus move collapsed because of public pressure, but puts the matter in Inter’s hands.

“Inter have never asked Stankovic if he is prepared for a move,” insisted agent Vinicio Fioranelli on Radio Radio TV.

“He is very happy with the Nerazzurri and the club has never shown any desire to sell him.”

The midfielder was all set for the transfer to Turin when Bianconeri fans waged a vicious campaign against his arrival.

“Dejan is a professional and I sincerely doubt he deserves the treatment these fans have dished out, but in any case that is not the reason why the transfer didn’t go through.

“Not to belittle Juve’s interest, but over the past three years he has consistently received offers from top clubs, including Arsenal and Real Madrid, but that doesn’t mean Inter want to sell.”

Stankovic was one of the players brought in by Roberto Mancini and his future at the club is in doubt as new boss Jose Mourinho takes charge.

“I don’t think a Coach can keep someone like Dejan on the bench or even in the stands for very long. If that were the case, we would have to re-evaluate the situation with Inter,” concluded Fioranelli.
