Vincenzo Iaquinta admits he was “irritated” by continual speculation over his Juventus future.
The former Udinese striker has been linked with a series of other clubs, including Napoli and Roma, following Amauri’s arrival.
“The talk of my potential departure did irritate me,” confessed the 2006 World Cup winner.
“I think I gave an important contribution to the side last season and the club said they were happy with me.”
The 28-year-old scored eight Serie A goals in 24 appearances, although only nine of those games saw him in the starting XI.
With the arrival of Amauri from Palermo, the chances are there will be even less first team football for Iaquinta.
“We are in the Champions League as well now, so fighting on two fronts means we’ll need all the players to give their contribution. We were the top scorers last term and I am sure with Amauri in the side we’ll do even better.”
Iaquinta missed out on Euro 2008 due to an injury and is upset he did not get to help Roberto Donadoni’s men.
“It was a shame to lose Donadoni, but I am happy that Marcello Lippi is back. He has always put a great deal of faith in me.”
