Dunga hails boys from Brazil
Sunday 6 July, 2008

Brazil boss Carlos Dunga is confident this’ll be a great Serie A season for Adriano, Alexandre Pato, Nelson Dida and Ronaldinho.

Only three of those Selecao stars are currently signed with an Italian club, but that might not be the case for much longer.

“Ronaldinho wants to join Milan and players are in charge of transfers. The Rossoneri have a good hand of cards to play here,” Dunga told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He has put on a couple of kilos, but he’ll burn them off quickly and will become a star of the Olympic Games.

“Pato will also stand out and I like this kid more every day,” he said of the 18-year-old Milan talent.

“The only problem is that everyone wants the moon from Pato, they forget he’s young and has the right to make mistakes.

“Pato was born to score goals in any League, against any opponent. He still has to learn how to be a protagonist for 90 minutes, not just the time he needs to put the ball in the back of the net.”

If Ronaldinho does join Milan, he’ll create an all-Brazilian front line with Kaka and Pato.

“Of course, this is the magic behind my own Selecao, with Pato and Robinho a little further in front,” explained Dunga.

“I have Gilberto Silva and Mineiro to guarantee midfield stability, while Milan have Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso.”

There are other Brazilians within the Rossoneri ranks who are not generating so much enthusiasm.

“I would like to launch an appeal on behalf of Dida. He is my friend and still a champion. Last season he was disappointing and injuries took their toll, but if Dida is fit then he’s still Number 1.”

Dunga gave Adriano another chance at international level after his depression and hard-partying ways and expects Inter to do the same when he returns from his San Paolo loan spell.

“I must admit I approached him with a little trepidation. I never had doubts over his football skills, but as a person…

“Instead I discovered a model professional. Adriano will be Jose Mourinho’s best signing and President Moratti did well to have patience. Adri will repay him for this faith and can win the Serie A Capocannoniere title.”
