Monday 6 July, 2009 | | Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan says he has no intention of playing in Serie A despite interest from Milan.
The 30-year-old Uruguay international, who was the top scorer in La Liga last season, is in demand this summer.
Asked if he would leave Spain for Italy, Forlan replied: No. Not for the moment. If an interesting offer were to arrive I would obviously take it into consideration because the Italian championship is a good one and it would be very motivating to play in Serie A. Anyway, for the moment it's not on the agenda.
When confronted with reports linking him with a move to Milan, Forlan said: The truth is that a proposal hasn't arrived for me. They have told me about this, but I have taken it for what it is. A rumour.
Forlan then had a few words to say on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who finished Capocannoniere in Italy last season.
He is a great striker, but there is not only him, there are many others, like Pippo Inzaghi for example, who continues to score a lot of goals even at his age.
Players like this are wonderful to see and important to learn from, Forlan explained.
Asked if he feels similar to Inzaghi, Forlan replied: No. Everyone has his own style of play. What is admirable is that at 35 he continues to play at the highest level, scoring a sack of goals.
Finally, Forlan spoke of his respect for Italian champions Inter, who he believes are a great team.
They are very good. It's a team that has great players of all nationalities. A great team and not only 11 regulars, he concluded.
