Chievo have signed Recreativo Huelvas Italian goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old custodian started his career at Lazio before a brief spell at Juventus and seven years with Torino.
After falling out of favour with the Granata, Sorrentino was sold to Greek giants AEK Athens and spent last term on loan with Recreativo, where he impressed for the La Liga strugglers.
Juve considered approaching Sorrentino to act as Gigi Buffons understudy, but they decided against a move and Chievo pounced as soon as the Campania native became a free agent.
The newly promoted Flying Donkeys are looking to strengthen in the hope of staying afloat next term and have made their first high-profile coup of the summer.
