Mancini has Premier ambition
Saturday 4 July, 2009

Roberto Mancini is looking for a new job in the Premier League and argues he is “one of the best tacticians around.”

Mancio has been out of work since Inter sacked him last year, even though he won three consecutive Scudetti.

“It’s not too bad being on the sidelines, especially in summer. Coaching Inter was the ultimate achievement and it’s tough to find a club on their level,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It can be useful taking a step back, as you watch the games and training sessions, sometimes realising you were better than you thought.

“I am not afraid of the future. I think I am one of the best tacticians around and nobody can argue against that.

“My objective now is to have an experience overseas, probably in England. Clearly if another Italian club at the top level should call, then that would be just as good.”

He is still being paid by Inter, as the talks to terminate the contract by mutual consent collapsed earlier this summer, but he assures he is not bitter at being replaced by Jose Mourinho.

“[President Massimo] Moratti wanted to change and it is within his rights. Mourinho is certainly very good in front of the cameras and with his gift of the gab could even be a politician.

“I still think Inter are above the rest and I doubt Diego is enough to bring Juventus to their level. I think Roma, if they can return to the side of two years ago, are the team that can really be dangerous.”

Mancini also surprised by claiming he wouldn’t say no to Juventus, despite their status as arch-rivals before and after the Calciopoli scandal.

“I have never been approached by Juve, but I am a professional Coach and so there is no problem discussing an option with any side,” he added.

“I have always liked Juve. I never had a problem with them. I only said the things I thought it was right to say, so if something is not done according to the rules, then it’s right to point that out.”
