Diego Milito believes Inter “have what it takes” to follow Barcelona’s lead in the Champions League this term.
“Inter are not just focusing on one objective. I don’t want to appear presumptuous, but we can and must take Barcelona’s example.
“They were able to win everything and we can do the same. We have what it takes to achieve that goal.”
The former Genoa striker is the big new signing of the summer along with teammate Thiago Motta, so great things are expected of ‘El Principe.’
“I am 30 years old and have the experience to know in the long run that hard work pays off,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Responsibility doesn’t scare me. There was the chance to join Inter in January, but it was right that Genoa counted on me until the end of the season and I must thank all of them. It is because of Genoa that I am here and got back into the Argentina squad.”
Milito is set to partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic and was requested especially by Coach Jose Mourinho.
“It’s easy to play alongside a talent like Zlatan. He has world class tricks and I can work to help him. I am not egotistical.
“I spoke with Mourinho on the phone once the deal was done and I was very pleased. I am certainly not the first to realise he is a great Coach and from the first contact I could tell he likes to put players at ease.”
