Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli responds positively to Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandellis assertion the Bianconeri are to be feared.
In an interview yesterday, Viola Coach Prandelli stressed that he believes the Old Lady can win the Scudetto this term.
After last seasons heroic third-placed finish, Juves players should be in high spirits at their first team meeting of the 2008-09 season this afternoon and Cobolli Gigli is certainly positive.
I heard Prandelli on the radio while I was having breakfast and the coffee seemed sweeter, the Old Lady chief grinned.
I really hope that he is right and we are a side capable of clinching the title.
You never know what will happen in football and it just takes one bad day to mess things up.
However, I feel confident because I have great respect for Prandelli, who I remember as a great player as well as being able to do big things as a Coach.
Juventus have already added Palermo striking star Amauri to their ranks this summer, but they are expected to make at least one more high-profile signing.
We are lacking a midfielder, Cobolli Gigli admitted. We are working on two or three names that I have seen written. The key is to buy the right men at the right time.
Cobolli Gigli concluded by praising Juve legend Giampiero Boniperti on his 80th birthday.
I am going to see Boniperti and I will be taking him a present on behalf of everyone at the club, he revealed.
He is a great example on a human and a sporting level and he was a top player and President.
Amongst everything else, Giampiero deserves the credit for bringing Giovanni Trapattoni to Turin, which started a winning cycle.
