Adri: Three is the magic number
Friday 25 July, 2008

Prodigal son Adriano has returned to the Inter fold and enjoyed playing in a trident in yesterday’s friendly against Al Hilal.

The Brazilian hitman made his first appearance for the Nerazzurri since October 1997 and played the first 45 minutes against the Saudi Arabian champions in Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge.

L’Imperatore played alongside Luis Figo and Mario Balotelli in a three-man attack and was happy with his performance, despite the Beneamata’s lack of cutting edge.

“I am feeling good and I am happy to be back in the squad,” Adriano told Mediaset.

“I am slowly but surely getting back to 100 per cent physically and I will try and become better than I was before.

“It’s good to play with three strikers because there’s more movement and you have players who play the same position as you around.

“That allowed you to play faster and more technically. We can score lots of goals using this formation.”

Adri was frozen out of Roberto Mancini’s side due to animosity between the two men and he concluded by stressing his faith in the new regime.

“Mourinho has his philosophy and that is to play people who train hardest and are in the best condition,” he concluded.
