Thursday 24 July, 2008 | | Free agent defender Matteo Ferrari is looking for a new club after leaving Roma and Inter is now the most likely destination.
The former Everton man refused a new contract offer from Roma after a season of irregular activity in the Eternal City.
After a link with Fiorentina faded, Sampdoria became the favourites for his signature, but they have now been replaced by Inter.
Ferrari wont be going to Sampdoria, agent Moreno Roggi confirmed on Radio Kiss Kiss. The negotiations have stalled.
There are discussions underway with Inter, but we will have to see how things develop.
Ferrari is far from a priority for the Italian champions, but he could provide valuable cover.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Algerian-born ace will be willing to trade the Giallorossi bench for the role of understudy at San Siro.
