Thursday 24 July, 2008 | | There are rumours that Tottenham will offer striking star Dimitar Berbatov to Milan at a reduced fee to avoid selling him to Manchester United.
The Bulgarian international is expected to quit White Hart Lane for a bigger club ahead of next season and had been a target for the Diavolo at the start of the summer.
But after a period of flirtation with Milan, Berbatov seemed to have chosen Manchester United instead.
However, after a public row between Spurs and United, The Sun reports that the North London outfit are desperate not to sell Berbatov to the Red Devils and are willing to offer him to the Rossoneri for the reduced price of £25m.
Such a deal seems rather far-fetched after the arrival of Brazilian ace Ronaldinho, which Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani insists closed the market for the world champions.
It is also unlikely that Milan would be willing to spend £25m on Berbatov when they refused to pay a similar sum for Arsenals Emmanuel Adebayor, who is younger.
Barcelona is a more realistic destination for Berbatov with the future of Cameroon international Samuel Etoo still uncertain.
