| Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey’s agent is puzzled by the Adrian Mutu transfer saga, as he lines up a contract extension for his client.
Mutu’s future is up in the air after Roma saw a £16m offer refused by the Tuscans.
Although he may be staying put, the Romanian seems keen to relocate to the capital and may receive a cold reception from Viola fans next term if he doesn’t complete a transfer.
“I don’t understand anything in this saga and I think it has been very badly handled from a media point of view,” Carlo Pallavicino told Sky Sport Italia.
“The problem certainly wasn’t financial, given that he would have earned at least £150,000 more at Roma compared to the £2.7m in Florence.
“It is fair to say that there is a salary cap at Fiorentina, more or less.”
Despite regular links with Milan, French goalkeeper Frey seems to be ready to commit the rest of his career to the Gigliati with an extension until 2013 on the table.
“There are no doubts over his contract extension,” Pallavicino stressed. “He would sign until 2020 or 2030!
“Frey wants to spend the rest of his career with Fiorentina and I am certain a deal will be done.”
