Milan’s first friendly of the season, in which Mathieu Flamini made his debut, ended goalless against Cremonese.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side failed to hit the back of the net, but expected little more considering they were without Ronaldinho, Alexandre Pato, Kaka, Andrea Pirlo, Gianluca Zambrotta, Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini, Marco Borriello, Alberto Paloschi, Paolo Maldini, Pippo Inzaghi, Emerson and Marek Jankulovski.
The main focus was the debut of new boy Flamini and the former Arsenal star impressed in midfield, taking on Pirlo’s usual position in front of the defence.
He had the first shot on goal that whistled past the upright from distance. Osuji, Willy Aubameyang, Cristian Brocchi and Clarence Seedorf also went close, but could not break through.
General manager Adriano Galliani was at the Stadio Zini and took the opportunity to comment on news Nesta was suffering from a back problem.
“It is not a serious problem,” he told Sky Italia. “We are relaxed because the player does not need an operation. Besides, we have six central defenders in the squad, so Milan will not be buying anyone else.”
