Tuesday 22 July, 2008 | |
Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso is ready to fight for a place in Jose Mourinhos team and has high hopes for the new campaign.
Cambiasso was a pivotal figure in Roberto Mancinis side, but his playing time has been threatened by Mourinhos desire to bring in a new midfielder.
However, the possible arrival of a new star doesnt worry the former Real Madrid man.
Im not fearing for my position, Cambiasso told Sky Sport Italia.
We are always motivated to the extreme by the responsibility of wearing this shirt and knowing that everyone has to give 100 per cent.
I want to thank Roberto Mancini for everything he did for Inter and now I just want to learn as much as possible from the new Coach who makes us work very hard.
Its better to judge the transfer market after it has closed and we know that there are always surprises.
After last seasons Scudetto success, Cambiasso is clear that the Nerazzurri will accept nothing less for the 2008-09 campaign.
The aims are the same as they always have been and identical to any other big side we have to compete for every competition, he said.
Its not by chance that Inter have been in four Coppa Italia Finals over the last few years it shows that we dont undervalue any competition.
Its true that we have had more luck in the League than we have in the Champions League, but in the end the important thing is to achieve one of those objectives.
At the moment we are Italian champions and we are starting from that position.
