Reports from Portugal state that Porto striker Ricardo Quaresma could sign for Inter within the next 24 hours.
The Italian champions seem to have accepted defeat in their bid to bring Chelsea ace Frank Lampard to San Siro this summer.
Coach Jose Mourinho is now ready to look elsewhere for reinforcements and is focusing on compatriot Quaresma.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the 24-year-old will be offered a four-year contract worth around £11m trebling his wage at Porto.
However, there is still work to do on the transfer fee because the Bwin Liga side wont relinquish Quaresma lightly.
Porto are reportedly demanding £25m plus the rights to Inters Portuguese youngster Pelè a sum that Massimo Moratti is unwilling to pay.
Sources suggest that a compromise could be reached at around £20m, but that Moratti is keen to bring the cost down to £15m.
Quaresma has never publicly stressed his desire to play for Inter, but he would be expected to relish the chance to try his luck in Italy under Mourinho.
