Inter seem ready to forget Frank Lampard and focus on a deal for Portuguese ace Ricardo Quaresma with the players agent arriving in Italy for talks.
The Nerazzurri had been strongly linked with Quaresma at the start of the summer, but his price tag of nearly £30m seemed to end any chance of a deal.
The Italian champions had instead focused their efforts on trying to lure target No 1 Lampard, but with the English international unlikely to move this summer, Quaresma talks have reopened.
It would be interesting to have Quaresma, Mourinho admitted on Portuguese TV channel TVI yesterday.
However, he is a Porto player and I am Inters Coach. I think the player would be happy to come but I dont know if the directors will make an offer.
Quaresmas agent Jorge Mendes has flown into Milan to try and make progress on an agreement but the two clubs may struggle to find a compromise.
One popular hypothesis is that Inter will offer a part-exchange of £20m and the rights to Portuguese youngster Pelè.
So far this summer Inters only big swoop has been for Roma star Amantino Mancini and at least two more signings are expected.
