Blanc: 'Keeper or nothing
Friday 18 July, 2008

Juventus director Jean-Claude Blanc is adamant that the Bianconeri will only return to the transfer market to sign a reserve goalkeeper.

After opting to buy Christian Poulsen to strengthen the midfield, the Old Lady have drawn a line under their summer spending.

However, there have been rumours that Juve are still looking out for a creative midfielder and could even try and lure Milan’s Clarence Seedorf after the arrival of Ronaldinho.

But Blanc insists that the only target is an understudy to Gigi Buffon to replace the unconvincing Emanuele Belardi.

“We spoke about making three signings, one for each position, and we made those with Olof Mellberg, Christian Poulsen and Amauri,” the Frenchman declared.

“They have arrived in addition to Momo Sissoko and Dario Knezevic – the former we bought in January and the latter to substitute the injured Jorge Andrade.

“Now we will only be signing a back-up to Buffon and then we will be done in the market.

“Our transfer policy dictates that for every player that arrives one must leave, and so it will be.”
