Moratti: It's down to Frank
Thursday 17 July, 2008

Inter chief Massimo Moratti admits the Nerazzurri are powerless as they wait for news on Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

The Italian champions are looking to make a high-profile swoop this summer and new Coach Jose Mourinho has made it clear that Lampard is his first choice.

But Chelsea seem determined to keep their star man until his contract expires next summer and it may be down to Lampard to force the transfer through.

“A lot depends on the player’s expressed desire and it seems that the player is torn between a sense of duty to his current club and a new choice,” Moratti explained from Appiano Gentile.

“We have done what we can and in the end it will be down to him to reach a conclusion.”

Reports in Italy suggest that Inter are willing to increase their offer for Lampard to around £20m but they may be frozen out and be forced to look elsewhere.
