Ronaldinho's agent wants a move to Milan tonight, but Barcelona are taking “two or three days” to decide on their £8m offer.
“Ronaldinho and his agent arrived at the Camp Nou this afternoon to discuss his future with general manager Txiki Begiristain, director of football Raul Sanllehi and Coach Josep Guardiola,” read an official statement on the club website.
“Both parties have agreed to give themselves a margin of two or three days to conclude the sale of the player to one of the clubs who have shown an interest in signing the Brazilian.
“If by the time this deadline has passed the deal has not been completed, the player will resume pre-season training with Barcelona.”
The decision has effectively put the ball in Milan's court, as they have 72 hours to convince Barca that their £8m bid - or an improved proposal - is worth their while.
The Blaugrana are holding out because they would obviously prefer to accept the £25.5m offer from Manchester City.
However, Ronaldinho and agent De Assist have repeatedly stated in the media that Milan are the only choice.
Today De Assis - who is the former World and European Player of the Year's brother - met with Milan general manager Adriano Galliani in a Barcelona hotel and spoke to journalists outside.
“Things are going well. In fact, they could not have gone better,” specified the representative.
It is now reported that the Rossoneri expressed their willingness to go up to £16m if absolutely pushed into it, but would prefer to use Ronaldinho's personal preference to force Barcelona's hand.
Milan wish to complete the signing for the start of their pre-season training, which is on Wednesday at 11am.
