Acquafresca's Olympic joy
Monday 14 July, 2008

Cagliari striker Robert Acquafresca is living a dream by travelling to the Olympics and hopes to wear the Inter shirt one day.

Acquafresca emerged as a striking star last year when he fired 10 goals for Cagliari in his first Serie A campaign.

The young gun of Polish origin is currently co-owned by Inter, but will spend next season at the Stadio Sant’Elia after he has represented his country in China.

“I was honoured when Poland approached me to play at Euro 2008, but I chose Italy without any hesitation and I think I deserve the Azzurri shirt,” Acquafresca explained.

“For me, participating at an Olympics is the realisation of a dream and I just can’t wait.”

While Acquafresca accepts that he isn’t ready for Inter’s first team yet, it is a target that he is working towards.

“Cagliari is a springboard,” he said. “I want to thank the club for letting me grow.

“But one day I am hoping to arrive at Inter – that is my objective and my dream.”
