Momo Sissoko tells fans he will be able to share the midfield with Christian Poulsen and recover in time for the Champions League preliminary round.
“If it were up to me, I would start playing immediately, but the medical staff have told me to take it one step at a time,” said the Juventus star.
“I really don't think there will be any problems for me to be ready in mid-August. As I said, I'm in good shape, but I can also accelerate the recovery time.”
Sissoko suffered the right thigh injury during an international game on June 1.
“It was a normal challenge against Congo and is just a light thigh strain. I spent my holidays doing rehabilitation in a specialist centre near Biarritz,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
When he does return, Sissoko will find the midfield unusually packed at Juventus, as they have agreed a £6m deal for Sevilla man Poulsen and are reportedly still chasing both Dejan Stankovic and Xabi Alonso.
“Do we need a midfielder with good feet? Have you seen the long balls that Cristiano Zanetti can place for the strikers?
“I am not a 'double' of Poulsen, as we have different characteristics. In fact, I think our actions can slot together very well. He tends to push forward more and scores a few goals.
“Certain decisions are not down to me, but there is room here for Poulsen as well as myself.”
Now the Bianconeri are preparing for the Champions League preliminary round, but Sissoko has other targets in mind.
“I want to win the Scudetto. We are strong and have the quality needed to improve further. Now it all depends on us, we are hungry for success and want to make all our dreams come true.”
