Ronaldo’s Serie A career appears to be over after Flamengo announced an agreement with the out of contract Milan star.
“We have a deal with the players’ agent,” confirmed President Marcio Braga in Globoesporte newspaper.
“As soon as he has recovered from the injury, we will sit around a table and complete the paperwork.”
Il Fenomeno has been out of action since suffering a devastating knee tendon injury in February and in that time his contract with the Rossoneri expired.
As he is still battling for fitness and was also involved in a blackmail scandal with transsexual prostitutes while in Brazil for rehabilitation, Milan opted to wait for the situation to develop before committing to another season.
“Flamengo’s medical staff are personally following his physical progress,” added Braga.
“Ronaldo will be this club’s top priority.”
The striker turns 32 in September, but his career has been blighted by a series of injuries.
If he does sign for Flamengo, it will be his first non-European club since Cruzeiro in 1993-94.
He has worn the jerseys of PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter, Real Madrid and Milan.
