Amauri's debut delight
Friday 11 July, 2008

Juventus new boy Amauri was pleased with his five-goal debut in a friendly against Mezzocorona.

The Old Lady made short work of the Serie C2 stragglers and ran out 7-1 winners at Pinzolo.

But Amauri was undoubtedly the star of the show with five first-half goals to his name.

“I have to thank my teammates who gave me the chances in front of goal,” the former Palermo man said.

“I linked up very well with the lads and we are already on the same wavelength and on the right track.

“I am happy to start like that because these goals can help morale. I just hope to continue like this.”

Amauri had to come off in the second half after picking up a knock in a 50-50, but he insists that it’s nothing to worry about.

“It wasn’t a big deal,” he said. “It was just a normal clash and a small cut, but nothing important.”
