Mancio thanks Inter fans
Friday 11 July, 2008

Nearly two months after his dismissal, Roberto Mancini has emotionally thanked the Inter fans for their support during his four years at the club.

Despite successfully retaining the Scudetto last term, Mancio was shown the door by President Massimo Moratti due to his attempted resignation after the Beneamata’s Champions League exit at the hands of Liverpool.

A shocked Mancini was replaced by Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho and refused to comment in the Press as he dealt with his anguish.

But now the unemployed tactician has given an statement in which he paid tribute to the San Siro supporters.

“You know that I don’t like to talk much, especially about myself, but for a while I have felt that I need to say something and I feel this is the right time,” Mancini told www.tuttointer.org.

“I read all the messages I received and I was struck by the many displays of affection. I confess that I was a little emotional when I looked back at the great years we passed together.

“I thank all you fans from the bottom of my heart. You can’t imagine how nice it is to be remembered like this.

“But I was Inter’s Coach and Coaches, like players, come and go. Inter will be Inter forever and you will always support them because your club is the most important thing and it needs you.

“Thanks again and a big hug because I won’t ever forget you.”
