Oriali: Frank wants us
Thursday 10 July, 2008

Inter director Gabriele Oriali is certain that Frank Lampard wants to wear the Nerazzurri shirt but fears Chelsea could lock him up.

The future of Lampard has become something of a soap opera over the last few weeks with Inter and Chelsea sources making repeated claims and denials.

Press reports suggest that the England midfielder would favour a move to San Siro, but Chelsea are determined that he will at least see out the final year of his contract.

The Italian champions have seen bids of £6m and £8m refused, but the Beneamata won’t give up on their main target for the summer.

“We have done everything that we can, be we can’t force Chelsea to let him go,” Oriali said on Premium Calcio 24.

“What is certain is that the player really wants to come to Inter.”

In the meantime, new boss Jose Mourinho can content himself with the arrival of Brazilian forward Amantino Mancini.

The former Venezia star joined from Roma for a reported fee of just under £12m earlier this afternoon.
