Ranieri: We have enough quality
Thursday 10 July, 2008

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri is sure the Bianconeri are strong enough to excel and calls for patience from striker David Trezeguet.

The Old Lady’s French striking ace Trezeguet admitted yesterday that he was hoping for more new recruits to improve the squad.

However, Ranieri’s main priority was Palermo hitman Amauri and he has belief in the men at his disposal.

“This Juventus side is good enough,” the former Parma tactician told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Players that don’t have quality don’t have a place in this squad. We are setting our sights high.

“Trezeguet knows that you can’t create a side with 13 absolute champions overnight,” he continued.

“That will take several years, but we will return to the top. Last year we took the first step when we got to the Champions League preliminaries and now we must take the second step by getting through.”

Midfield misfit Tiago Mendes is being linked with German side Wolfsburg and is widely expected to leave after a miserable maiden season in Turin.

“Tiago is a big player and that’s why we signed him,” Ranieri maintained.

“I want to have an embarrassment of riches. If Tiago asks to stay, I will greet him with open arms.

“I am waiting for his decision and I have the greatest of respect for him.“
