Julio Cesar's double ambition
Tuesday 6 January, 2009

Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar has set his sights on a glorious 2009 with success at home and in Europe.

The Nerazzurri are currently six points clear at the top of Serie A as they prepare to restart their campaign against Cagliari.

“Can we extend our lead during the next few rounds? I certainly hope so,” Julio Cesar said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It is crucial that we restart in the best possible way and secure some important victories.

“I honestly believe that the most difficult test will be the first game back against Cagliari.

“I'm not thinking about the Champions League game against Manchester United with Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

“I am worried about Robert Acquafresca because a goalkeeper must always think about his next opponent.”

However, Julio Cesar is clearly still dreaming of European glory, which is Inter's main aim this term.

“United are a wonderful side and we will turn our attention to them in due course,” Julio Cesar continued.

“It would be amazing to win the Champions League, but I hope it happens in normal time.

“I don't want the stress of a penalty shootout, even if I could be the hero. I'd rather have more time to celebrate.”
