Cicinho not interested in Chelsea
Sunday 4 January, 2009

Chelsea transfer target Cicinho has reassured fans that he has no intention of leaving Roma, although there is interest from Brazil too.

“Cicinho’s intention is to remain at Roma,” agent Ricardo Sarti told Radio Radio TV this afternoon.

There have been reports in the newspapers of Italy, England and Brazil that Chelsea boss Felipe Scolari pinpointed Cicinho as one of his January reinforcements.

“There has been no contact with Chelsea. In his interviews with the Brazilian media Cicinho made it very clear he intends to stay at Roma.

“In Brazil there is also talk of interest from Santos and Internacional, but there is nothing concrete. Cicinho’s future is still at Roma.”

The Selecao full-back has had some problems since moving from Real Madrid last season, including a row with Coach Luciano Spalletti that saw him frozen out of the squad for allegedly refusing to sit on the bench.

“He is working well here and the supposed misunderstandings with Spalletti are non-existent,” continued the agent.

“There is no problem with the Coach, who in fact has understood Cicinho’s issues and there is a good rapport between them.

“In his first Giallorossi season he was coming off an injury and also struggled to adapt to the new League, seeing as there are big differences between Brazilian, Spanish and Italian football.

“He had to work hard to learn the defensive movement and in his second season is doing much better. He had a few physical problems, but is getting back in shape.”
