Adriano: It's all Inter's fault!
Saturday 3 January, 2009

Adriano is training separately from the Inter squad, but his spokesman puts the blame for the late arrival firmly on the club!

L’Imperatore stirred up new controversy when he did not attend the first training session of 2009 on Friday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho had confirmed he was not given any extension and Inter released a statement insisting Adriano was having a check-up with the medical staff – although he didn’t actually reach Italian soil until 20.13 Italian time last night.

Now another explanation has emerged from the player’s camp in the form of spokesman Flavio Pinto.

“There was a misunderstanding between Adriano and the club,” he told Globo Esporte.

“Inter had not booked, as they usually do, Adriano’s return flight from Brazil. This meant he found himself without a seat on the right plane.

“He had to organise the transport himself and pay for the ticket out of his own pocket.”

This morning Adriano arrived at Appiano Gentile just before 9am local time, an hour before the rest of the squad.

He did not take part in the first training session, instead speaking with Coach Mourinho for five minutes before going back into the gym for specialist individual work.

Adri is recovering from a thigh strain he suffered against Werder Bremen in early December.
