Mou refutes striking reshuffle
Friday 2 January, 2009

Inter Coach Jose Mourinho has rubbished links with England international Michael Owen, Genoa ace Diego Milito and Chelsea's Didier Drogba.

The Nerazzurri are six points clear at the top of Serie A as they look to continue their dominance of Italian football.

However, not everything has gone according to plan for Mourinho and a rift with Brazilian striker Adriano has caused speculation that a new man may be brought in up front.

“I haven't had the slightest indication that Adriano won't be here for my first training session in 2009,” Mourinho said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“For me, he is an extra option. If Adri works with enthusiasm and is in good physical and psychological shape then he might even play against Cagliari in our first game back.

“I still think it might do him good to go somewhere else, but what Coach wants players to leave if nobody replaces them?”

If Adriano were to leave San Siro, a number of faces could be brought in to fill the gap.

“What do I think about signing Milito?” Jose said. “I think every boss in Serie A would like to have him, but it would be very, very hard to prise him away from Genoa.

“As for Owen I really haven't thought about him at all. He has had some big injury problems in the last year and he's not the same player we used to know.

“I have never hidden the fact that Drogba is one of the most important players in my coaching career, but from the first day I have said that I don't expect him to come to Inter.

“I have always expected him to renew his deal with Chelsea.”
