Diego must wait for Juventus
Tuesday 27 January, 2009

Werder Bremen midfielder Diego has poured cold water on suggestions he may join Juventus before the summer.

The Brazilian international has been a target for the Old Lady for months as they consider strengthening their midfield.

There have been reports that sporting director Alessio Secco has held talks with Diego's father and his German owners, but a winter deal now looks out of the question.

“I'm happy to know that there are some big teams tracking me and that they like the way I play,” Diego told Sky Sports.

“However, I have a contract until 2011. I'm not thinking about renewing at the moment, but I also haven't thought about leaving.

“Werder haven't proposed a contract renewal so far and I have had offers from other teams, but that's not to decide now.

“I don't know whether I will play in Italy. There are teams I like there and I'm very interested in Serie A, but we will have to wait and see.

“Juventus are a great team and anyone would like to play for them, but I have to respect the side I play for.

“There is no agreement with the Bianconeri yet - I haven't signed anything.”
