Inter's New Year clear out could start with the loan sale of Argentine hitman Hernan Crespo to Spanish outfit Espanyol.
The 33-year-old has been cooling his heels on the Nerazzurri bench for most of the season due to the abundance of options at Jose Mourinho's disposal.
Crespo has insisted that he will be staying put until the summer, but there have been regular reports linking the ex-Chelsea man with a temporary transfer.
According to Sportmediaset, Bologna have retracted their interest in Crespo, but Espanyol are preparing an ambitious swoop.
The Barcelona-based side are reportedly ready to present a proposal to Inter chief Massimo Moratti, who has admitted his intention to trim the squad.
The main stumbling block that must be overcome lies with Crespo's wages, which are beyond Espanyol's current capabilities, so Inter may have to continue paying a significant percentage.
Should Crespo join Espanyol until the summer, he would be likely to make the move permanent when his contract at Inter expires in July.
