Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco has emphatically denied rumours linking the Bianconeri with a move for Roma defender Christian Panucci.
Panucci refused to sit on the bench as Roma played Napoli on Sunday afternoon, was later fined, and then immediately demanded a transfer.
No, absolutely no, said Secco as if offended by the suggestion. The player does not interest us. Not because he is an important player, but because we are already in place.
As I have said and confirmed many times before, we will not make a single operation in the January transfer window.
Meanwhile, Juventus talisman Alessandro Del Piero expressed his satisfaction at beating Fiorentina on Saturday night.
The Bianconeri ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a Claudio Marchisio goal laid on by Del Piero, taking them top of Serie A albeit only for a few hours.
I feel immense satisfaction for having won a very difficult game, said Del Piero. Continuing this positive series allows us to add three important points to our total.
Now we have to think ahead to our next game on Wednesday in the midweek round against Udinese, concluded the 34-year-old Del Piero.
Juventus are still second in Serie A, just three points behind League leaders Inter who were nine points ahead going into the winter break. |
