Juventus striker Amauri will not be named in Carlos Dungas Brazil squad for the Selecaos match with Italy on February 10, according to reports in South America.
The Brazilian Press expect Dunga to snub Amauri and select Ronaldinho, Adriano and Luis Fabiano as his attackers for the friendly scheduled to take place at the Emirates in London.
The 28-year-old Brazilian could yet play for the Azzurri if his application for Italian citizenship is successful.
Amauri has been in excellent form for Juventus since moving from Palermo in the summer. He has scored 13 goals in 23 starts for the Bianconeri in all competitions.
Dunga admitted yesterday that he has been concentrating on Italy rather than Amauri, studying DVDs of the Azzurri.
Its part of my work seeing that we have the objective of making the best selection for the national team, he explained on the Brazilian FAs website.
Italy are an opponent that I have a great respect for. Matches against the Azzurri are never any old games, irrespective of it being a friendly or a World Cup fixture.
From the DVDs, I appreciated the tactical discipline of the Azzurri. They succeed like few others to restrict the opponents space and when they are in possession they are capable of dangerous attacks.
Brazil last played Italy in a friendly tournament before the 1998 World Cup. The match ended 3-3 and featured a brace from Alessandro Del Piero and two own goals.
